I composed Drifting as a reflection on one of my very favourite places near my home city. Named the ‘Meeting of the Waters’, it a quiet and beautiful place in the country where two small rivers meet and merge to continue the journey to the sea. I love the sound of the waters dappling over small stones and the play of light as it filters down through the surrounding gum trees and dances off the water. It’s a special place that I have always loved spending time in with my loved ones. This piece tries to capture the feeling of spending time in this special place and reflects the journey of the rivers on to their final destination at the sea.
