Because of all our daily routines it’s often hard to see, but we’re constantly surrounded by magic. Sometimes it’s good to realize that you’re living on a rock in a gigantic universe. On this rock everything lives and grows. People, animals, plants. There’s a plant that’s called Postelein in Dutch. Ages ago people thought this plant had special powers. It was even made into amulets which should get rid of the devil. I like to see my piano pieces as a musical kind of amulets. They help me and hopefully my audience to expel my own demons and remind me to focus on creating beautiful melodies.
