As this year's Summer came to a close, I had to run home one night in Brooklyn as a thunderstorm was catching up to me. Raindrops started falling down as I hurried to open my half-broken umbrella. The sound of the water coming down overwhelmed me with feelings of nostalgia, because growing up, my dad and I would spend lots of time in cars traveling to music rehearsals and such in the rain. I had three siblings, so this was kind of our only alone time together. When I came home, I sat down at the piano and composed this piece. The notes 'poured' out of me and within 5 mins most of the composition was done. This one is for my dad, Willem.
